The oil tasting session, for a minimum of 4 people, concludes the visit to the Castle's old Olive Press with its huge milling stone. Here we give a detailed explanation of pressing processes, ancient and modern.
During November when the olives are picked and pressed we are delighted to offer our guests the chance to follow first-hand the production of our award-winning Cafaggio extra virgin olive oil. Joining the pickers in the olive groves to see harvesting methods, with an explanation of the characteristics of the olive, we then proceed to visit a modern olive press nearby.

The tasting sessions also include our own Chianti wine and chunky slices of toasted Tuscan bread known as fettunta. Here are some additional ideas for combining the session with traditional local products.

1) fettunta, pecorino cheese, Cafaggio oil and wine
2) fettunta, sliced cold meats, pecorino cheese, Cafaggio oil and wine
3) fettunta, sliced cold meats, toasts with fresh tomatoes and basil, pecorino cheese, Cafaggio oil and wine.
